Servicio Activo

Active Duty

Devotions

57-0807 - "A Él Oíd"

Many times in our lives we get to the point where we feel as though we need to relax.  Perhaps you see everyone else relaxing so you feel as though you need to relax as well.  Everyone else may seem so unconcerned that you may say to yourself, “ If they don’t care why should I?” It’s easy to take on this kind of attitude and that’s exactly the plan of the devil.  That’s why we must remain on active duty.  Be active and stay active.  Be in top form at all times and we won’t give the devil the time of day.

There was a time in the life of king David when he decided to relax.  He sent his warriors out to fight and he stayed back to relax.  Little did he know that sin was at the window.  He looks out the window and sees Bathsheba bathing.  He began to covet her, which eventually turned into murder.  Could this have been prevented?  Absolutely!  If he would have just remained on active duty this would have prevented.  When we become slothful just remember that sin lies at the door.  We are not part timers here.  We must be on guard and be proactive not reactive.  Don’t give the devil the time of day or he’ll make you pay.

2 Samuel 11:1-2 KJVS

[1] And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. [2] And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

Ecclesiastes 10:18 KJVS

[18] By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

15 Now, this father taken the son and turned him over to a raiser: a tutor, school teacher, (otherwise). And this school teacher had to bring word to the father just how that child was progressing: if he was slothful, or if he was dilatory, or if he was a bright, intelligent, wide awake, young man.

Now, the father had to find the man the right kind of a tutor. And that's a beautiful type of the church. That, when we become sons of God, born into the kingdom of God, the Father sent to us the best tutor that He could find: the Holy Spirit. Now, He never sent us an archbishop to be our tutor, or general overseer, or a district man. There's where we've made our mistake. The church is governed by the Holy Spirit. That's God's government for His church. But we've adopted other tutors, other raisers.

16 And then this tutor must be just, not pull any punches. He must bring the direct truth to the father. And how that tutor must blush when he comes up to the father, in his face, and said, "Your son is not doing too good. He's failing in his studies; he's dilatory."How the tutor must feel to come before the father with such a message as that about his son. ...
